Use your companion

A little character for your Dot.

An independent guide to Dotsona’s animated pets for OpenAI Dots: a character page, a saved look, and its original animation file.

Choose a pet or make one yours

Open a pet from Browse Pets, or use Create to change a body, colors, face, hair and accessories. A character can be a food, object or abstract companion. Creating a pet saves its configuration and a PNG sprite sheet together.

Copy the request for your Dot

  1. Open your pet page and choose Copy for Dot.
  2. Paste the copied text into your Dot and send it. It asks to import the existing pet and includes the page URL plus a backup original PNG URL.
  3. The Dot can read the page for the pet name, file format and original sprite sheet, then use its available import capability.

Sending a link alone does not clearly say what you want done. The copied request supplies that instruction. It asks for the original file, rather than a newly generated replacement.

Share a page with someone

Share shares the pet page for someone to view. Where available, choose an app in the system share panel. Otherwise, copy the link from the share panel. Sharing a page does not submit your pet to the Dotsona gallery.

The original PNG is the installation resource

A sprite sheet contains all the animation frames. Dotsona's current authored family uses sprite format v2: a transparent 1536 × 2288 PNG, with nine animation states and sixteen look directions. The small on-page animation is a preview of that file. Download PNG saves the complete original sheet.

Native pet installation links require an HTTPS image URL rather than an HTML page URL. A pet page lets your Dot locate that image and its details. The JSON manifest on our pages describes the resource; it is Dotsona metadata, not an official OpenAI import protocol.

If importing does not work

If the page cannot be read, the request includes the original PNG as a backup. If your Dot has no pet import capability, download the PNG and use an available compatible import interface. An inaccessible or unsupported client should report its limitation; it should not generate a different pet to stand in for the file.

What has been checked

Our exported PNGs pass checks for dimensions, frame layout, transparency and file integrity. The earlier Pocket Rice sample was imported successfully in a user test. Importing newly saved pages from the copied request is still being tested; these checks do not promise compatibility with every app, version or account.

Dotsona is an independent website, not an OpenAI product. See the official pet installation link reference for supported native parameters.
